You Already Have Most Of The Answers
This is how you find direction in life.
You Already Know What You Need
Over the years, my approach to self-improvement has changed quite a bit.
So much so to the point where I don’t really even label it as self-improvement.
If you’ve been with me since the start of this year, you might remember a newsletter where I talked about the theme of “effortless growth”.
And that’s exactly what I’ve accomplished.
Truthfully, I believe growth (most of the time) SHOULD feel effortless.
Now, that’s not to be mistaken with easy. Doing things that are outside of your comfort zone, that are shrouded by fears you need to conquer are difficult.
But deep down, it should always feel like the right thing to do. In other words, there will reach a time where growth becomes as second-nature as brushing your teeth in the morning.
How? Through trust.
Deep down, you know what you need. Your body knows what you need. Your brain knows what you need. If you are hungry, your body will give you signals. If you are burnt out, your brain will give you signals.
It does this with every aspect of our lives as well, but most of us tend to ignore any signals that aren’t related to fear and survival.
The problem occurs when you stop listening. When you feel drawn to certain experiences, hobbies, or activities, but you can’t really understand why, and you choose to ignore that inner voice, you train yourself to do things that are unaligned with your being.
Why do we do this? Simple. Fear of judgement. Fear of becoming broke. Fear of having no friends. Most of us make our decisions based on fear.
This is why you fall back into your bad habits, routines, and live in constant overwhelm. It’s not because you don’t know what to do. It’s because you know what to do, but you let fake voices disguised as the voice of your higher self dictate your actions.
Really sit with yourself. Do absolutely nothing. Listen to your thoughts.
At first, they will probably tell you things like, “This is boring, we need to move. I wanna binge junk food right now. I wish I had more money. Nobody loves me, and that’s how it will always be.”
Those are all the voices of the lower self. But if you keep listening, something remarkable starts to happen.
You start to realize that deep within, past all the rude remarks directed towards you, the failures you’ve accumulated, and fears of an uncertain future, there is a positive part of you that has been waiting for you to ackowledge it.
And that is the voice that will make growth effortless.
Trust the guidance of this voice. Trust the direction it will pull you. And soon, your trust in yourself will grow, which will make your confidence grow with it.
Confidence is the pillar of strong inner guidance. When you no longer live in fear, but act in spite of fear because you trust you can handle wherever this life takes you, your inner voice will give you more and more opportunities to grow in all aspects.
If you actually follow through with the positive things it tells you to do, then doing difficult things that lead to growth will feel more natural and comfortable than staying complacent, and constantly chasing that next dopamine high.
You don’t need as much external advice as you think you do.
Most answers you are looking for will be found through direct life experience, and enough self-trust.
How much work you can handle, how much money you need to be happy, and how much social interaction you enjoy is highly subjective to your own unique experience.
And the way you truly find that out is by testing the limits of your experience, and listening to the feedback of your inner guidance.
Stop ignoring what’s been screaming at you. It’s time.
